Technical SEO, Backlink Management, Analytics Setup, Local SEO, GEO and AEO Optimisation
A real company with a digital footprint that didn’t reflect it.
The client was not a startup finding its footing. They had a service portfolio, paying clients, and years of operational history. What they did not have was an SEO foundation that matched any of it.
Their website had pages. It had content. But there was no GA4 to measure what was working, no Google Search Console connected to catch indexation failures, and no structured data to tell search engines what the pages were actually about. Backlinks were sparse and unmanaged. Articles had not been optimised for the question-based formats that drive featured snippets and AI Overviews.
In the IT services space, this creates a specific problem. Buyers researching vendors use search engines and increasingly AI-generated answers to build their shortlist. If your company does not appear in those results, does not show structured data that signals authority, and has no local presence anchoring your credibility, you simply do not exist in the consideration phase. The sales team was working hard. The website was not working at all.
“In IT services, buyers build their vendor shortlist before they talk to anyone. If your search presence does not put you in that shortlist, your sales team is always starting from a cold start.”
The task was not to produce content. It was to build the technical and structural foundation that makes everything else work. Five service streams, one five-month engagement, starting in June 2025. Read more about how QualiPulse approaches technical SEO and AEO for software companies.
Six gaps. One invisible website.
Before any work began, QualiPulse conducted a full audit across analytics, technical SEO, backlink profile, local presence, and content structure. The same six gaps appear repeatedly in mid-sized IT companies that have grown through referrals and word of mouth but never invested in organic search.
No Analytics Foundation
GA4, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager were either not set up or configured incorrectly. No custom events. No conversion tracking. No data to make decisions from.
Weak Backlink Profile
Domain authority was low and backlinks were few. No strategy existed for acquiring links from relevant, high-DA domains. Toxic links had accumulated without any disavow process in place.
Technical SEO Debt
Core Web Vitals were unoptimised. Mobile usability had known issues. Internal linking was thin. Structured data was absent across all pages, leaving rich results completely untapped.
No Local Search Presence
Google Business Profile was not optimised. Local citations were inconsistent. No strategy existed for building the regional trust signals that matter for IT services companies selling to local enterprise clients.
Zero AEO and GEO Readiness
Existing articles were written for readers, not for AI search platforms. No FAQ schema. No structured answers. No alignment with the question patterns that drive Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity citations.
No Indexation Oversight
New and updated pages were not being submitted to Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools. Rankings were taking months longer to move than necessary because pages were waiting to be discovered, not actively pushed.
Five streams. Running in parallel for five months.
QualiPulse did not treat this as a sequential checklist. All five service streams ran concurrently from month one, because the technical foundation, the analytics visibility, and the content optimisation work each amplify the others. Here is what each stream covered.
Backlink Management
- 25 backlinks per month from DA 20-plus domains
- Toxic link audit and disavow submission
- Anchor text diversity management
- 60-plus total backlinks across the engagement
Analytics Setup and Reporting
- GA4, GSC, and GTM configured from scratch
- Custom events for CTAs, form fills, and scroll depth
- Weekly reporting on traffic, rankings, conversions
- AI search visibility tracking integrated
Technical SEO and On-Page
- 12 pages optimised per month, 60 total
- Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, image SEO
- 3 internal links added per page
- Article, FAQ, Breadcrumb, and Local Business schema
Local SEO
- Google Business Profile setup and optimisation
- 2 new Google reviews per month
- 1 regional landing page or citation per month
- NAP consistency audit across directories
GEO and AEO Alignment
- 9 articles optimised for AI search platforms
- FAQ schema implemented across target articles
- AnswerThePublic and AlsoAsked research integrated
- 2 external backlinks and 3 internal links per article
Structured execution. No surprises.
A five-stream technical engagement only works if the sequencing is right and the client has clear visibility at every step. Here is how the engagement was structured month by month.
Foundation Month: Analytics, Audit, and Baseline
GA4, GSC, and GTM were set up in the first two weeks. Custom events went live for all key conversion actions. A full technical audit identified the 60 pages to be optimised over the engagement, prioritised by traffic potential and current page health. The backlink audit produced a disavow list submitted immediately. Google Business Profile optimisation began. Baseline rankings were recorded across all target keywords.
Backlinks, On-Page, and First AEO Articles
The first 25 backlinks were acquired from relevant DA 20-plus domains. Twelve pages received full on-page treatment including Core Web Vitals fixes, internal links, and structured data. The first three articles were optimised for AEO, including FAQ schema, question-led headings aligned to AnswerThePublic data, and updated metadata. Pages were submitted to GSC and Bing Webmaster Tools immediately on update.
Scale and Compound: Backlinks, Pages, Local Citations
The second backlink batch added 25 more links, with anchor diversity monitored against the existing profile. Twelve more pages were optimised. The first regional landing page went live, targeting the client’s primary local market. Weekly reporting was now generating actionable ranking data that informed prioritisation for months four and five. AEO article three completed and submitted.
Advanced Schema and GEO Refinement
Advanced schema deployment across Article, FAQ, Breadcrumb, and Local Business types. Structured data was tested against Google’s Rich Results Test after each implementation. GEO alignment deepened as ranking data revealed which AI search platforms were citing which content formats. The second regional citation was submitted. Another 25 backlinks. Another 12 pages. The cadence held.
Final Optimisation, Handover, and Ongoing Visibility
The final 12-page batch was completed, bringing the total to 60 fully optimised pages. The ninth AEO article was delivered. A complete handover document was produced covering all technical changes made, the backlink profile status, schema implementations, and recommended next steps. The client now had a working analytics stack, a growing backlink profile, and content structured to appear in AI-generated search answers. See what a QualiPulse SEO engagement costs.
Five months. A completely different search presence.
The gap between where the client started and where they finished was not the result of one big move. It was 150 days of parallel execution across five disciplines, each compounding the others.

What five months of structured technical SEO actually produces.
These results did not come from a single tactic. They came from five streams of work running in parallel, each building on the others. The analytics foundation made the backlink work visible. The technical fixes made the content work rankable. The AEO optimisation made the pages citable in AI search answers.
Backlinks Acquired
All from DA 20-plus domains, with anchor diversity managed and toxic links disavowed from day one.
Pages Fully Optimised
Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, image SEO, internal links, and structured data. Twelve pages per month, every month.
Articles AEO-Ready
Each article restructured for AI search platforms with FAQ schema, question-led headings, and updated metadata aligned to real search behaviour.
Analytics Stack Built
From no visibility to a complete GA4, GSC, and GTM setup with custom events tracking every conversion action on the site.
Local Signals Created
Regional landing pages and citations added each month, building the local authority signals that matter for IT services companies selling to enterprise clients.
We had a website that looked like a business but did not behave like one online. QualiPulse built the foundation we should have had from day one. The weekly reporting gave us actual visibility into what was moving and why. For the first time, we knew what our search presence was doing.

What IT companies ask before starting a technical SEO engagement
What does a technical SEO engagement for an IT services company involve?
A technical SEO engagement covers Core Web Vitals optimisation, structured data implementation, internal linking, mobile usability, and indexation management. It also includes analytics setup with GA4 and Google Search Console, backlink acquisition from relevant domains, and AEO optimisation to capture AI-generated search answers. The scope depends on the current state of the site and the priority pages. See how QualiPulse structures technical SEO engagements.
How long does it take for technical SEO to show results?
Analytics visibility is immediate once GA4 and GSC are correctly configured. Technical fixes produce ranking movement within 60 to 90 days as search engines re-crawl and re-index updated pages. Backlink authority builds over 3 to 6 months. AEO optimisations can produce AI search appearances faster, particularly for articles that already have some ranking history and are restructured around question-based search patterns.
What is GEO and AEO and why does it matter for IT services companies?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) are practices that structure content to appear in AI-powered search results from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar platforms. For IT services companies, appearing in AI-generated answers positions the company as the authoritative answer before a buyer even reaches a traditional search result. This is where IT vendor shortlists are increasingly being formed. Read more about building authority for AI search platforms.
Do I need content creation as part of a technical SEO engagement?
Not necessarily. This engagement was delivered entirely without new content production. The work focused on optimising existing pages and articles for technical health, search intent alignment, and AI search readiness. Content creation adds another layer of impact but the technical foundation must exist first. Talk to QualiPulse about what your site needs first.
What does a QualiPulse SEO engagement cost for an IT services company?
Engagements are scoped based on the size of the site, the number of pages to be optimised, and the backlink target. This engagement covered five concurrent service streams for five months. See QualiPulse pricing or request a site audit to understand exactly what your site needs and what it would cost to fix it.
